They are best for use when over 100 litres per day is required. The plate set weighs 8 kg kg.  Container volume < 125 litres*, weight ≈ 3 kg*.  The life of the plate set is typically 200,000 litres for 200 NTU muddy water†.

 

Mains electricity must be regularly available.  The ideal, inexpensive method of providing cheap high quality water to a central point in a small community where mains electricity is regularly available.  Note that this is a manual process – someone has to fill the container, press the button and open the tap to drain out the water. Also suitable if you wish to clean up the poor quality tap water supplied to your community.
